SKIPPER Mark Noon says it was an “easy” decision to commit himself to Nuneaton Town for another season.
The influential midfielder has agreed another one-year contract at the Triton Showers Community Arena, as have youngsters James Armson and Eddie Nisevic.
The club exercised the option clauses in the players’ contracts, allowing them to extend the deal for a specified period.
Noon was the first player to put pen to paper, and as club captain, he hopes that his signature will persuade others to sign.
He said: “I was offered the deal quite early and I’d like the rest of the boys to stay together.
“Some of the lads might go on to bigger and better things, and that’s what they should do because we’ve got some very talented players.
“Hopefully me agreeing a new deal will persuade some others to sign.” Noon skippered Boro to a successful 2011/12 season, as they made the play-offs for a third successive campaign, and he believes that manager Kevin Wilkin is taking the club in the right direction.
He said: “I think the club has come a long way in a few years, and I want to continue that.
“I’ve been part of the club for a long time, so my decision was an easy one.
“The club will move on and develop, and it’s got a fantastic fan base.
“I’ve got a real affinity for the club.” Nisevic and Armson are two of a crop of youngsters at Boro, and Noon is delighted they have stayed on.
He is now hoping that star defender Gaz Dean, and others, follow suit.
He said: “I’m delighted that Eddie and James have signed, and hopefully we can persuade some of the other youngsters, like Gaz Dean, Adam Walker and Robbie Burns to stay as well.
“I think they’ll develop and in a few years they’ll go on any play at a higher level.
Noon is now looking forward to a successful pre-season, and hopes his injury problems are behind him.
He said: “I think I missed nine weeks, but its the first big block of games that I’ve missed through injury.
“It was an impact injury so not really preventable.
“You’re going to get the odd injury and that’s just part and parcel of the game.
“I can’t really argue with the record I’ve had, and hopefully I can stay injury free this season.” Nuneaton are continuing to talk to other members of the squad, and chairman Ian Neale says no-one has yet said they are not staying.
He told the club website “We will continue talking to the players in the meantime and at present no one has said they are not resigning.
“As a club we have built up a great working relationship with the players and we are able to take each other on our word.”
NUNEATON have announced that they will host Walsall on Saturday, July 23.
