Boro begin contract talks

NUNEATON Town manager Kevin Wilkin will sit down with his squad this week to discuss their futures at the club and is hopeful of persuading his key players to stay.

Kevin WilkinThe Boro narrowly missed out on a third successive promotion after being beaten by AFC Telford in the Blue Square Bet North play-off semi-final.

They will be looking to improve on that next season, and boss Wilkin believes they can offer competitive deals to keep their stars at Liberty Way.

He said: “We’re starting to sit down and speak to players over the next few days.

“We’ll put to them what we think is a good deal, but we know that there’ll be some interest from other teams, while sSome players who sit on the bench, you offer deals to them and they say no, and that’s understandable.

“We can’t offer them loads of money, but we’re hopeful they’ll look beyond that.” Wilkin also indicated that he would be looking to keep the squad at around the same size, with 18 players his target.
