Adders out after replay

Atherstone Town 0
Rugby Town 3

ATHERSTONE Town's FA Cup campaign is over after they lost their Preliminary Round replay with Rugby Town 3-0 last night.

Rugby made a sensational start at Sheepy Road when, after 14 seconds, Seb Hamilton fired a low shot under Rich Williams in the Adders goal to open the scoring.

It was nearly worse for the Adders four minutes later, but a Rugby header was disallowed for offside. Atherstone's best chances were at the end of the first half when Tommy Guiney, Tom Weale and Greg Moseley all went close, but Rugby nearly grabbed a second just before half-time, when only a fine Zak Johnson tackle and a clearance off the line kept them in the game. Williams leapt high to his right to save a Craig Civzelis free-kick just after the restart, but in the 67th minute the Adders were two down.

Striker Danny Edmond was brought down by Jackson, who received a red card. Harris hit the penalty high to Williams' left to make it 0-2. The Adders tried hard to rescue the game but on 81 minutes Heath headed Rugby's third.
