HEARTFELT and touching tributes have been paid to a man struck and killed by a train.
A Nuneaton man died on the railway line at Caldecote Lane in the town.
He has been named locally as Duane Beers with scores of tributes left by friends and loved ones on the social networking site Facebook.
Floral tributes have also been left near to the scene of the tragedy which happened on Saturday morning.
Mr Beers, who was 25 years of age, was a former student at Hartshill School and King Edward VI Sixth Form College.
In one of the online tributes, it says: “A heart of gold stopped beating, two shining eyes at rest, God broke our hearts to prove, he only takes the best. Rest in peace.”
Another emotional message reads: “Still can’t believe you’re gone, an all round much loved and respected good guy.”
Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a file is to be prepared for the coroner.
A spokesman for British Transport Police (BTP) said: “British Transport Police officers were called to the railway line at Caldecote Lane, Nuneaton, on Saturday after receiving reports of a person being struck by a train.
“BTP officers, Warwickshire Police officers, the local ambulance service and the air ambulance attended the scene shortly after 9am.
“The body of a man, who has yet to be formally identified,was located at the scene. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death.A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
The train involved in the collision was the 07:38 Crewe to London Euston service.
As well as the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance, West Midlands Ambulance Service sent an incident officer, a rapid response vehicle, the hazardous area response team as well as an ambulance crew at 9.04am.
“The body of a man was found,” said a spokesperson.
“It was apparent from the outset that nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
