A ROVING reporter from the small screen has set down permanent roots in Nuneaton as she forges ahead with a new career.
Former ITV and BBC television journalist Gail Downey has made Nuneaton her home and the location for her new film company.
Based on Tuttle Hill, `Whirlwind Productions' aims to create films for websites, conferences, sales presentations and DVDs and make use of the benefits of the worldwide web.
As well as covering numerous major news stories over the past 20 years, Gail has worked as a presenter and producer, making programmes for documentaries for a number of channels.
"I'm running my new business from my home in Tuttle Hill," said Gail, who will be most well known for her work with ITV Central.
"I used to live in Nuneaton years ago when I was a journalist in local papers - once off Edward Street and then by the train station in town. Although I'm not from here originally and have spent a lot of time recently in Oxfordshire, I thought Nuneaton would be a good place to be based."
Whirlwind Productions has been set up to provide companies in the Midlands with an affordable way of having films on their websites which can also be used on YouTube or at conferences, as a simple way of promoting what they do.
"Having a short film made about your company, charity or organisation is one of the best ways of getting yourself noticed," added Gail.
"YouTube is a universally recognised used search engine so people looking for a product or service will obviously go there.
"Films can also be used for presentations at sales conferences, sent out to potential clients on DVD or memory stick, or used as part of a promotional pack by sales staff. The beauty if that once the material has been shot it has a multitude of uses."
