Appeal over backpacker's death
The mother of a British backpacker who was killed 12 years ago in Thailand has made an appeal for fresh leads that could help capture her daughter's killer.
Sue Jones travelled to Thailand this week to mark the anniversary of the death of her 23-year-old daughter, Kirsty Jones, who was raped and strangled at a guesthouse in the northern city of Chiang Mai.
She told the media that she will give a £10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
The case created a media frenzy in 2000. Thai police under pressure to solve the case accused the British guesthouse owner of killing Jones. The man was acquitted due to lack of evidence, causing some to accuse authorities of framing him.
