VICIOUS muggers on a moped launched a series of terrifying night time attacks on six separate victims.
All of the people who fell prey to the two male assailants were left with injuries and without their possessions, with the most serious being a man who had his jaw broken.
Warwickshire Police are now appealing for witnesses following the street robberies, which happened throughout Nuneaton late on Tuesday night and into the early hours of Wednesday morning.
In each incident the victim was assault before having their property stolen, and in nearly all of the attacks they have reported two males on a moped.
In what is believed to be the first incident, a 24-year-old man was walking along Powell Way in Nuneaton at around 9pm.
He was approached by an unknown male who demanded cash and his Blackberry phone, he was then punched in the face and fell to the ground.
An 18-year-old male was also attacked an robbed as he walked along Gypsy Lane at about 11pm on Tuesday evening. Two males on a moped approached him, pushed him to the ground and stole his mobile phone.
In another incident near to Everard Court, a 22-year-old man was knocked unconscious and had to attend hospital for treatment to cuts to his head after he was punched in the face and knocked to the floor by two males who approached him on a moped, or motor scooter.
He was walking home with a friend at around 11pm on Tuesday and he had his wallet with £100 in it and his mobile taken.
In the most savage attack a 54-year-old man sustained a broken jaw, a cut to his head, plus cracked ribs after he was punched in the head by his attackers and fell to the floor in Clement Street, near to its junction with Bracebridge Street shortly after midnight.
A male and female were approached by two men on a moped near to Lydgate Court shortly after midnight, they stole the woman's handbag and property from the man after striking him.
A spokesperson for Warwickshire Police said: "A 23-year old man was arrested on Wednesday morning in connection with these incidents. Police have been granted an extension of detention and he remains in police custody at this time."
