COMPLETING a tough physical feat has seen a sizeable cheque presented to a worthy cause.
The Mary Ann Evans Hospice in Nuneaton is now £21,565 better off thanks to those who took part in the Virgin London Marathon 2012.
This year’s 26.2 mile event held in the nation’s capital in April, saw a team of 14 runners taking part in the palliative care charity’s name.
“A huge thank you to them all for their training and running the gruelling 26.2 miles around London and to all their colleagues, friends and family for supporting and sponsoring them,” said Janet Kavanagh, fundraising manager for the charity located within the grounds of the George Eliot Hospital.
“The generosity really will help us to make a difference, and this year more so than ever as we strive to provide more flexible and responsive care precisely when and where it is needed most.”
An extremely grateful Mrs Kavanagh added: “Also a huge thank you to Jaguar Employees General Charities Fund for sponsoring the Golden Bond places.
“This gives our runners the opportunity to take part in such a special event while supporting the Mary Ann Evans Hospice.”
