JOBSEEKERS are to receive practical help as an employment fair has been organised by Members of Parliament.
Marcus Jones, MP for Nuneaton, and Dan Byles, MP for Bedworth and North Warwickshire, have joined forces to host a Job Fair on Thursday, June 28.
Taking place at the Civic Hall in Bedworth, it is believed that the event is the first of its kind organised by local MPs in Coventry and Warwickshire.
The event is aimed at bringing employers with job vacancies together with local people who are seeking work.
Businesses will have the opportunity to meet with potential new staff, while those looking for employment can talk to representatives from firms face to face about opportunities that are available.
Dan Byles said: "Boosting local jobs and the local economy is a priority of mine. I regularly meet people who are seeking work, and I firmly believe that every jobseeker represents a tragic waste of talent and a devastated family.
"That's why I am delighted at the response we have had from local businesses to our plan to organise a Job Fair in Bedworth. Marcus and I hope this will be the first of many, and we intend to hold future Job Fairs in Nuneaton and in Atherstone.”
There will also be a series of seminars held throughout the day, which is free to all, offering advice on everything from writing a CV to interview preparations, training and apprenticeship opportunities.
The Job Fair is being supported by North Warwickshire and Hinckley College, Silver Skills, Numidia Academy and a number of voluntary organisations.
Marcus Jones added:"Despite the country's economic difficulties, we have many small, medium and large businesses here in Nuneaton and Bedworth who are growing and looking for staff. Dan and I believe that a Job Fair is an ideal opportunity to bring them together with local people from all backgrounds who are seeking work.”
Any potential employers or jobseekers interested in attending the Job Fair can registers by contacting Dan Byles on 024 7631 5233 or Marcus Jones on 024 7634 8482 and they will be sent an information pack with all the relevant details.
