I AM a parent and grandparent who tries to encourage my children and grandchildren to participate in most sporting activies.
I do notice that through the media children are particularly encouraged to eat healthy and keep ative. Therefore I was very disappointed to turn up on a pleasant Wednesday morning to my granddaughter's sports day to be told it was cancelled because the grass was too damp.
In previous years through information given to me by other parents the ground has been too dry.
The excuse given by the teachers and headteacher is it is for health and safety reasons.
I can imagine the huge disappointment of the small children who are in between four and eight years of age when that is given as an excuse not to have their sports day, never mind the disappointment of the parents and grandparents.
Mr S. Dawson,
Annoyed grandad,
