Great work at Adders

ONCE again Nuneaton Town/City /Borough find themselves embroiled in possible legalities, this time concerning a ground sharing debate and running costs.

When is the club going to realise that events off the pitch contribute to events on the pitch, and I am not necessarily suggesting mis-management on a large scale.

But the sooner the dispute with the rugby club is resolved, the better it should be for all parties.

Did anyone fail to notice that while all this unrest at the club is on going, the upsurge in Atherstone Town's fortunes is quite incredible.

Under the guidance of Jimmy Ginnelly and Dale Belford this club is certainly going places.

Considering Atherstone have risen yet another league with successive promotions, as opposed to Nuneaton's demotion to this lower league, you would have expected Nuneaton to be streets ahead of the opposition.

But even at this early stage of the season, it is already clear that the local bragging rights rest squarely on the shoulders of the Atherstone team, which can also be attributed to an excellent management team, backed by an ambitious chairman and board.

The scene is set for Atherstone to make further progress on local neighbours Nuneaton.

In respect of Atherstone, the only criticism I could possibly have is the continual lack of support through the turnstiles.

Supporters should realise the bubble shows no sign of bursting, so get behind this team who have even surpassed Nuneaton now.

In terms of team spirit and dedication to the club they have been moulded into a side capable of competing with anyone in this league.

Unfortunately continued progress goes hand in hand with finance and although Jimmy and Dale and others concerned raise much needed funds through off field activities, the true support of any football club is measured by bums on seats.

The people of Atherstone should appreciate the turn around in fortunes of the club by turning out in force at Sheepy Road and witnessing and realising that once again Atherstone town is an exceptional football club, considering the ground was an overgrown wasteland a relatively few years ago.
