WHAT is going on at Warwickshire County Council? Or more to the point what is going on with Nuneaton's newly elected (mostly) Conservative councillors?
Within a few weeks since we all voted in the local elections and they gained control of the borough council, Shire Hall has been walking all over us in Nuneaton and Bedworth.
I guess they think now a Conservative council is in charge in Nuneaton's Town Hall they can do whatever they want to our town and so far it looks as if they are doing exactly that!
Hazardous Waste Plant to be built in Nuneaton - Passed
Nuneaton's best and Ofsted "Outstanding" school Etone to be closed and merged with Manor Park on their site - Passed
A completely useless congestion easing bus lane in Abbey Green (when most congestion is caused by cars) - passed and up and running
60 Million pounds worth of investment in a new college which would bring to more prosperity and jobs to the town and better facilities for our young people - turned down
And where are all the newly elected (Tory) Borough Councillors while Warwickshire Council Councillors are walking all over us? Not a peep from any of them.
Are they still out there, so stunned by their shock gain of control of the council there are no policies or leadership. Are they all too busy hobknobing at Shire Hall to care about Nuneaton?
I have to say I voted Conservative because I wanted change locally, but so far I am not impressed!
Come on Nuneaton councillors wake up and start fighting for this town. The people elected you now get to work and speak up for us.
The previous Labour Leader of the Council Dennis Harvey said at the election that he was only giving over control of the town to the Tories for two years, at this rate there won't be a town left in two years!
Ask the people and they will tell you:
We do not want a hazardous waste plant.
We do not want Etone, the best school in the area (probably the county) to be closed.
We did not want money wasted on a useless bus lane.
We do want jobs, prosperity and money spent in the right places.
So come on councillors talk to the electorate. We gave you a voice to speak for us so use it, stop the rot and tell Shire Hall where to go!
